Consumers Can Dispute Inquiries
A Pennsylvania federal court has ruled that consumers have the right to dispute illegal inquiries into their credit report. The court held that Trans Union did not properly understand what it means for a report to be accurate and rejected its unduly narrow understanding of the term. Consumers should check their credit reports for inquiries that don't belong and dispute them as not being permitted under the statute.
